Witch Halloween Costume
October 31 is celebrated as a Halloween festival in many parts of the world. On this day one usually comes across children and adults dresses in costumes of ghosts, monsters, devils and witches. People even decorate the porches and fronts of their homes with lanterns, black cats and spider webs, anything to create that extra supernatural look.
The Legend of Halloween
The Celtics were the first to bring the Halloween Costume in their culture and society. The Celts greatly believed that once the person is dead he moves on to the after world of eternal happiness and youth. It was All Hallows Eve that later came to be known as Halloween.
On this day the dead comes back trying to search for a living being whom they can inhabit. This is because of the prevalent belief that by inhabiting a living being they can attain happiness. This led to the practice of people coming out on this day dressed in the costumes of monsters, devils and witches. It was believed that Halloween Witch Costume can save them from inhabited by ghosts.
Modern Day Halloween
Later people began to celebrate the day by gathering at the cemeteries of the dead. They thought this would help their dead ones on their journey ahead. The Irish immigrants took the culture to other parts of the world and made it an important festival of the western world. It is the western world which celebrates it with much pomp.
Now it gives youth and children the chance to dress as supernatural beings. It is an opportunity to decorate their homes with mystery items. Adults come out disguised in number of imaginable ways, participate in parties, walk their children around and hand out goodies out to young children at front doors.
